POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for the management of all recreation facilities, and assists with sport, recreation and leisure programs in the community. This position will boast leadership through management of operation and enhancement of these facilities as well as the development of existing and future community events.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide general information to all inquiries regarding operations
- Respond to front counter inquiries
- Manage telephone calls
- Manage emails
- Provide administrative support
- Liaison between the Town and Community Groups – attend meetings
- Work with community groups to provide assistance with advertising and leisure programs
- Provide assistance to community groups with grants
- Create and execute policies and bylaws for the Town
- Host events within the Town and Town owned facilities
- Process and track Fitness Centre Memberships
- Process cash receipts for Concession, Eastview, Ice Rental, Facility Bookings, Equipment Rentals
- Assist FCSS with hosting and promoting events
- Attend Interagency Meetings once a month
- Prepare reports for Council Meetings
- Work closely with Facility Manager with day-to-day operations of the Carena
- Provide guidance and leadership to part time staff for the Carena and the Town
- Work with Social Media/Graphic Design Contractor for Facebook and Instagram pages and website content
- Promote activities and events within the community
- Work with the local, regional and provincial economic development/tourism development entities to promote the awareness and use of all facilities
- Attend Council meetings and assist with minutes and RFDs
SKILLS:
- Day to day work activities are prioritized appropriately within work routines and scheduled with some guidance
- Knowledge of the Municipal Government Act
- Knowledge of applicable regulations, equipment and software
- Take initiative and set realistic goals and develop plans to achieve them in a team environment
- Ability to follow oral and written instruction and work with minimum supervision
- Effective public relation skills
- Ability to lead and function in a team environment
- Excellent organization, time-management, administrative and computer skills
- Attention to detail and a strong customer service skills
- Maintain the highest standard of confidentiality
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A minimum grade 12 education
- A minimum of 4 years post-secondary or equivalent in a related field
- Computer literacy
- Valid class 5 driver’s license
- Supervisory or managerial experience necessary
- Experience in municipal environment
- Experience with Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams
- Excellent communication, organizational and time management skills
- Knowledge of the Municipal Government Act
- Recreation Courses such as Arena Operator 1, Sports Field 1 are an asset
- Comprehensive knowledge of work hazards, safety procedures and public safety
