POSITION: Public Works Summer Student Eastview Campground
RESPONSIBLE TO: Public Works Foreman
POSITION SUMMARY
Are you someone who enjoys working outdoors, meeting new people, and taking pride in maintaining a welcoming environment? The Campground Operator at Eastview Park plays a key role in creating a positive and memorable experience for campers and visitors. This position is responsible for the daily operation, upkeep, and overall presentation of the campground, combining customer service, administrative tasks, and hands-on maintenance in a dynamic outdoor setting.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Oversee campground reservations using the online booking system
• Provide friendly, professional customer service by answering phone calls, returning messages, and responding to emails
• Process payments and complete daily cash-out procedures
• Maintain accurate computer records and documentation
• Clean and sanitize bathroom and shower facilities daily, ensuring a high standard of cleanliness
• Operate and maintain equipment and vehicles, including mowers, weed eaters, and the Town pickup truck
• Perform a variety of safe, efficient manual labour duties related to campground operations
• Work comfortably in all types of weather conditions
• Participate in basic safety training as required
QUALIFICATIONS
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and take initiative
• Comfortable operating lawn mowers and various equipment
• Strong customer service skills with clear verbal communication
• Ability to multitask and prioritize duties in a fast-paced environment
• Exceptional attention to detail, particularly in maintaining clean bathroom facilities
• Valid Class 5 Alberta driver’s license (driver’s abstract required)
• Physically able to use hand tools and lift heavy objects as needed
• First Aid certification is considered an asset but not required
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends during larger community events

Job Description
POSITION: Public Works Summer Student Maintenance
RESPONSIBLE TO: Public Works Foreman
POSITION SUMMARY

This seasonal position plays a key role in maintaining the Town’s parks, cemetery, and recreation grounds. You’ll be hands-on, active, and part of a team that helps create safe, clean, and welcoming spaces for residents and visitors alike.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
As a Seasonal Maintenance Worker, you will:
- Operate a variety of equipment and vehicles, including mowers, water pumps, weed eaters, sprayers, and a Town pickup truck with trailer (hauling water tanks and mowers)
- Perform a wide range of safe, efficient manual labour tasks
- Maintain and enhance Town grounds, green spaces, and the Town Cemetery
- Assist with small roadwork projects such as filling potholes and painting lines
- Work outdoors in all types of weather conditions
- Participate in required basic safety training and follow safe work practices at all times
QUALIFICATIONS
The ideal candidate will have:
- A strong work ethic with the ability to work independently and stay motivated
- Experience operating mowers and related equipment (or the willingness to learn)
- Excellent customer service and verbal communication skills
- The ability to multitask, prioritize duties, and manage time effectively
- A valid Class 5 Alberta Driver’s License (driver’s abstract required)
- Physical ability to use hand tools and lift heavy objects when required

Administrative Assistant (Permanent Full-Time)
The Town of Viking is currently accepting applications for an initiative-taking, detail-oriented Administrative Assistant to join our team on a permanent full-time basis.
The Administrative Assistant plays a key role in supporting the efficient day-to-day operations of the municipality. The successful candidate will demonstrate exceptional multi-tasking abilities, a collaborative and team-oriented approach, and strong leadership skills.
Qualifications and Experience:
- High School Diploma (or equivalent) required. Additional training or certification in business administration or a related field is an asset.
- Proven experience with the Catalis (Muniware) Accounting Software Suite and its accompanying modules
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Municipal experience is considered an asset.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently
- Acceptable Criminal Record Check
- Driver’s Abstract
Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Bookkeeping and financial administration
- Payroll processing
- Human Resources administration
- Knowledge of the Municipal Government Act, Strategic Plan, Municipal Development Plan, Land Use Bylaw, Area Structure Plans, Outline Plans, and other Town of Viking policies
- Utility services administration
- Taxation and assessment support
- Responding to ratepayer and customer inquiries, questions, and concerns
Hours of Work: 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.- Monday to Friday
