May 2024 Council Meeting Highlights 
Public Hearing followed by Special Council Meeting:
May 21st, 2024 - Public Hearing followed by Special Council Meeting:
- The Municipal Development Plan & Land Use Bylaw 2024-640 was amended to subdivide the Catholic Church Rectory to a stand alone residential home.
May 21st, 2024 - Regular Council Meeting:
1.) Council supports the Town of Viking in providing financial support for each of the following Viking School Grade 12 Community Awards:
- Science 30 Highest Average for $250
- Grade 12 entering an Agriculture or Trades or Industry Program for $250
- Grade 12 student entering Education or Early Childhood Development program for $250
2.) In response to concerns expressed by The Viking Community Wellness Society about increased traffic on the walking trail due to the new Seasonal Raw Water Pump Station, council motioned to assume responsibility for repairing any potential damages caused by truck traffic accessing the Raw Water Pump Station. The Town of Viking is committed to maintaining the walking trail's integrity and ensuring it remains a safe and enjoyable space for our community.
3.) Administration received an email from the Government of Alberta’s Ministry of Seniors, requesting that all municipalities recognize the week of June 3rd to 9th as Seniors’ Week. The purpose of Seniors’ Week is to honor and recognize seniors for their invaluable contributions to our province. Council by motion supports the declaration of Seniors’ Week, June 3rd to 9th, 2024.
