Fire Restriction in Effect for Beaver County

Please be advised that the fire ban has now been lifted. A fire restriction is effective May 31, 2023 at 12:00 PM. Please see the messaging below.

Beaver Emergency Services Commission has lifted the fire ban and has issued a FIRE RESTRICTION effective May 31, 2023 at 12:00 PM. The fire ban has been lifted as most of the Beaver County region has received some rainfall, however a restriction is still needed due to continued dry conditions and warm temperatures.

Under the FIRE RESTRICTION fires that require a permit are still not allowed as they still pose a greater risk for wildfire spread. This includes:

  • Burn barrels
  • Open fire (Brush, Bonfire)
  • Fireworks

Small recreational fires in an approved fire pit and all barbecues are now permitted. Residents are advised that it is their personal responsibility to ensure that their fire pit meets all rules and regulations for an approved fire pit. Construction guidelines for an approved fire pit can be found here. Fire pits must be contained in a non-combustible structure, have a screen and be at least three metres from structures, fences, decks or trees. Residents are advised to use caution and monitor fires at all times.

Beaver Emergency Services Commission continues to monitor the conditions closely.

Any changes in the situation will be announced on the BESC homepage, the Alberta Fire Bans website, and via the messaging notification at 780.336.3041

  • A Fire Advisory indicates the fire danger rating has increased and there may be certain restrictions on burning. This level is a warning that a fire restriction or ban may be implemented if the situation doesn’t improve.
  • A Fire Restriction results in the suspension of open burning privileges for fires that require permits and fireworks. This does not apply to outdoor recreational fires in an approved firepit or charcoal briquette BBQs.
  • A Fire Ban means no outdoor fires are permitted. This includes using charcoal briquettes, burn barrels, private fireworks displays and outdoor recreational fire pits. The use of cooking and recreational appliances that can be turned on or off using a switch or valve (fire table, electric smoker, pellet, propane or natural gas barbecues), is permitted.
